When I decided to pursue my career in the film industry, I thought it was appropriate to start from the bottom. In fact, my first job in the industry was to stand beside the assistant editors and learn how to manage the material on the rack. At the same time, I was learning the correct way to put a video into a sequence, by balancing correctly the rhythm and the grammatical construction of the scenes.
One year later, the analog system of editing arrived in Italy and the production companies were starting to install the first analog video editing rooms. I understood that this new system would become the future of editing in the film industry and this is the reason why I decided to study the structure of this new editing room. In 1988 when I had the opportunity to work at Sony Italy in Rome. After a few months, I began to install analog editing rooms in various post production companies in Rome, Italy.
When I felt able to handle everything I had learned up to that moment, I started to put it into practice.
In January 1991, I began my career as a video editor. I had the opportunity to work on projects for TV series, documentaries, trailers, music videos and movies. To improve my sense of rhythm in the sequence, I worked for a while in the audio mixing room. Studying the geometry of images has allowed me to have a better results cutting and assembling the sequences.
However, in 1995 a new editing system Avid Media Composer landed in Italy and it is still my current program of working. I spent 23 years building experience and refining my skills.
In march 2014, I decided to move with my family from Italy to my wife’s native land, Canada. I arrived in Toronto with high hopes of being able to showcase my skills, as well as to explore new possibilities from other backgrounds. I knew that it would be difficult from the beginning and I also knew that, if I wanted to integrate well, I would have to start from the bottom.
I love what I do and, from the beginning, I have done it with passion and enthusiasm.
